The Dell PowerEdge R630 is a 1U rack server with ten 2.5-inch hot-plug drive bays. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2603 V3 six-core processor running at 1.6 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. Two 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives and an H330 RAID controller are included. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies provide power resilience.

Suits dense storage and virtualisation

This configuration suits environments that need dense internal storage in a 1U form factor, such as virtualisation hosts, file servers or database nodes. The ten drive bays allow a mix of SAS and SATA drives with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 60. Buyers who require more than two processor sockets, GPU acceleration or an optical drive should consider other platforms.

The system contains one Xeon E5-2603 V3 six-core CPU at 1.6 GHz and supports a second processor for additional cores. Memory uses DDR4 across 24 DIMM slots with a maximum capacity of 1536 GB when both sockets are populated. Networking includes a daughter card with four 1 GbE ports, with optional 10 GbE upgrades. Remote management is handled by iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller.
