The Dell PowerEdge R630 packs a six-core Xeon E5-2609 V3 at 1.9 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 into a single rack unit. It ships with two 300 GB 15K SAS drives on a Perc H730 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis accepts up to ten 2.5-inch hot-plug bays for SAS or SATA media.

Redundant 750 W supplies

Dual hot-swap 750 W power modules share the load so a single failure does not halt the server. The 1U form factor relies on high-speed internal fans to move air across the CPU, memory and drive cage. Acoustic output is typical for a dense rack platform and scales with thermal demand.

Ten-bay SAS capacity ceiling

The backplane tops out at 14 TB of raw SAS storage across the ten drive slots. Buyers who need more capacity must look beyond this chassis. The single processor installed leaves one socket open, but the memory ceiling of 16 GB is already reached with the fitted modules.
