The Dell PowerEdge R630 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 V3 ten-core processor at 2.3GHz with 20 threads and 16GB of DDR4 memory into a 1U chassis. It targets workloads that need high core density in limited rack space such as virtualisation hosts or database nodes. Dual 750W redundant power supplies and an iDRAC8 remote-management module support continuous operation.

Ten 2.5-inch hot-plug bays with H730 RAID

Storage connects through a Dell PERC H730 2GB controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across SAS or SATA drives. The ten-bay front panel accepts 2.5-inch devices only and no optical drive option exists for this configuration. Maximum supported drive capacity is 14TB per bay and the controller runs on a 12Gbps SAS interface.

Memory ceiling fixed at 16GB installed

The system ships with 16GB of DDR4 and the specification lists maximum memory capacity as 16GB, so no further DIMMs can be added despite the presence of 24 slots. Buyers who need more than 16GB of RAM must choose a different platform. Expansion is limited to three PCIe 3.0 slots plus the dedicated PERC slot.
