The Dell PowerEdge R630 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2637 v3 quad-core processor running at 3.5 GHz with 16 GB of DDR4 memory in a 1U chassis. Eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives managed by a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and iDRAC8 remote management support continuous operation in rack environments.

Sustained load behaviour

The H730 controller maintains RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 arrays across all eight bays during extended write workloads. Redundant power supplies share load so that a single unit failure does not interrupt service. The Xeon E5-2637 v3 delivers four physical cores and eight threads for steady multi-threaded throughput, while 24 DIMM slots allow memory expansion to 1536 GB for larger working sets.

Practical interface limits

PCIe 3.0 slots provide up to three full-height expansion cards plus a dedicated PERC slot, limiting total lane bandwidth to the generation 3.0 ceiling. Onboard networking uses a daughter card with four 1 GbE ports; optional 10 GbE NDCs can replace this but do not exceed the PCIe 3.0 link speed. The Matrox G200 video output is restricted to basic console display with 8 MB cache.
