The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for dense scale-out data centre computing. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processors, each running at 3.2 GHz with eight cores. The system includes 128 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 16 GB modules. Eight 300 GB 10K SAS drives and a PERC H730P controller provide internal storage.

Redundant platinum power supplies

Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant hot-swap power for continuous operation. The 1U form factor concentrates two CPUs, memory, storage and networking into a single rack unit, so airflow and thermal design are engineered for sustained load. iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote monitoring of temperatures, fan speeds and power draw without host OS involvement.

Eight-bay SAS storage and quad-port networking

The front panel holds eight 2.5-inch SAS drive bays connected to the H730P RAID controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. A quad-port Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections. Ready Rails and a front bezel are included for standard rack mounting.
