Dual 14-core Xeon 2U server

The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.0 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency and provides 14 cores, giving 28 threads in total. The system ships with 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 24 DIMM slots. It is designed for midsize and large enterprise workloads such as virtualization, databases and high-performance computing nodes.

Suited for virtualisation and database nodes

This configuration fits buyers who need dense compute and memory capacity in a 2U form factor with redundant 750 W power supplies. The PERC H730 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with a 1 GB cache. Buyers who require more than 256 GB of memory or more than eight 2.5-inch drive bays should consider a different chassis. The board maxes out at two processors and 1.5 TB of RAM.

Eight 300 GB 10K SAS drives included

Storage is provided by eight 300 GB 10 000 RPM SAS hard drives connected through the 12 Gb/s H730 controller. Network connectivity uses an Intel X520/I350 daughter card with two 1 GbE ports and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports. Remote management is handled by iDRAC 8 Enterprise. Rails and a front bezel are included for rack installation.
