Built for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 12 cores. It ships with 128 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 16 GB modules. The system targets workloads that need high core counts and large memory capacity in a compact rack footprint.

Storage and networking ready

Eight 2.5-inch drive bays are populated with 2.4 TB 10 K SAS hard drives connected to a PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache and battery backup. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. A quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides dedicated remote management.

Dual redundant power supplies

Two hot-swap 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundancy for continuous operation. The 2U chassis includes ready rails and a front bezel for standard rack installation.
