The Dell PowerEdge R740xd fits twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays into a 2U rack height. Two Xeon Gold 6130 processors provide 32 total cores at 2.1 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. 512 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory fills sixteen slots, leaving eight open for expansion.

Dual CPU and PERC H730P controller

The board supports two LGA 3647 sockets, both occupied. The PERC H730P with 2 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across SATA and SAS drives. Redundant 1100 watt platinum power supplies and hot-swap bays keep the array online during maintenance.

Quad-port networking and iDRAC 9 Enterprise

An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for storage and management traffic. iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote power, console and firmware control. Rails and a front bezel are included for immediate rack mounting.
