The PowerEdge R740xd is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processors, each running at 3.2 GHz with eight cores. It ships with 768 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory installed across 24 slots. The system targets software-defined storage clusters, virtual desktop infrastructure and service-provider workloads that demand high internal capacity.

24-Bay SAS Storage And Quad-Port Networking

Twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays connect to a Dell PERC H730P 2 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. The bays hold 24 enterprise 2.4 TB 10 K SAS drives already installed. A quad-port network daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links, while iDRAC9 Enterprise handles remote management.
