Eight-port M.2 NVMe RAID controller

The HighPoint SSD7540 is a PCIe 4.0 x16 add-in card that provides eight M.2 2280 slots for NVMe solid-state drives. It targets workstation and server builders who need dense, high-throughput local storage in a single expansion slot. The card supports single-drive, RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 1/0 configurations with TRIM pass-through on all modes. It runs on Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 or later, Linux kernel 3.10 or later and macOS 10.13 or later.

PCIe 4.0 x16 host interface

The decisive specification is the PCI-Express 4.0 x16 uplink, which supplies the aggregate bandwidth required to saturate eight Gen 4 NVMe drives simultaneously. Without a full x16 Gen 4 link from the CPU or chipset the card will fall back to Gen 3 speeds and cannot deliver the rated 28,000 MB/s throughput. Buyers whose platforms only offer x8 or Gen 3 slots will not realise the controller’s design potential.

Low-noise hyper-cooling solution

An integrated low-noise hyper-cooling solution manages thermals for the switch chipset and all eight installed SSDs under sustained workloads. The cooling assembly is designed to operate quietly in typical workstation and rack environments while keeping drive temperatures within safe limits. Power draw scales with the number and model of NVMe drives fitted; the card itself adds only the controller and switching overhead.
