The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 is a 1U rack server built for space-constrained data centres. It ships with dual Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 six-core processors running at 2.4 GHz. The system includes 8 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and four 1 TB 7.2K SAS drives. A Smart HBA H240ar controller provides RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support. Dual 500 W redundant power supplies are fitted. No operating system is included.

Installation and common issues

The 1U chassis slides into a standard rack using the supplied rails. Memory installs into 24 DDR4 DIMM slots, twelve per processor, and supports modules up to 64 GB at 2400 MT/s. The four large-form-factor drive bays accept 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives with included trays. A frequent issue is populating DIMM slots unevenly across the two CPUs, which reduces memory bandwidth. Another is forgetting to configure the H240ar RAID volume before installing an operating system.

Pre-order checklist

Verify that your rack provides 1U of vertical space and sufficient depth for the server chassis. Confirm the facility can supply power to two 500 W redundant supplies on separate circuits. Ensure you have SAS or SATA cables compatible with the H240ar controller if you plan to add drives beyond the four included. Check that any additional DDR4 memory you intend to buy is ECC registered and rated for 2400 MT/s. The Matrox G200 graphics output is basic; plan for headless management via iLO if a display is not required.
