ProLiant DL380 Gen9 24-bay SFF server

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server with 24 small-form-factor drive bays. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2643 v3 six-core processor at 3.4 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The Smart Array P440 controller with 4 GB FBWC supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for local storage arrays.

Sustained load behaviour

Dual 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies keep the platform running if one unit fails. The Xeon E5 v3 architecture provides 12 threads via Hyper-Threading for multi-threaded workloads. Memory runs up to 2400 MT/s dependent on processor capability, and the 24 DIMM slots allow expansion to the platform maximum. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics core with 16 MB video memory handles basic console output only.

Installation notes

The chassis includes 24 drive trays with screws but no drives are installed. Adding a second processor unlocks the remaining 12 DIMM slots and additional PCIe lanes. The 24-bay SFF configuration does not offer an optical drive option. Rear drive cage expansion is available for two additional SFF bays. No operating system is included.
