This 2U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor at 2.4 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 24 DIMM slots. It targets organisations that need dense compute for virtualisation, database or general-purpose workloads in a standard rack footprint. The system supports a second processor for up to 36 total cores when demand grows.

Redundant power and 24-bay SAS storage

Dual hot-swap 500 W power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation. The Smart Array P440 controller with 4 GB flash-backed write cache manages two 146 GB 15 K 6 Gbps SAS drives in 2.5-inch bays and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across 24 SFF bays. An optional rear cage adds two more bays without increasing rack height.

Upgrades from single-socket or smaller arrays

The platform replaces single-socket towers or 1U units that lack redundant power or the 24-bay capacity for local SAS storage. The jump is worth it when workloads require ECC memory scaling beyond 16 GB, hardware RAID with flash-backed cache, or a clear path to a second Xeon without changing chassis.
