The iStarUSA D-400L-7 is a 4U rackmount server chassis built from aluminum and steel with a black aluminum front bezel. It accepts EATX, ATX and microATX motherboards up to 12 x 13 inches and provides seven full-length expansion slots for add-on cards.

Tool-free drive bays and front access

Seven external 5.25-inch bays and one external 3.5-inch bay sit behind a lockable front bezel, while a single internal 3.5-inch bay is also available. Cooling uses three 120mm fans and one 80mm fan with a removable air filter. Front-panel USB 2.0 ports, power and reset switches, and power, HDD, temperature and fan indicators are included; temperature and fan monitoring require the optional TC-ISF08 sensor board.

Suited for high-density storage builds

This chassis fits builders needing up to twelve 3.5-inch or thirty-six 2.5-inch drives when paired with compatible backplanes, plus redundant PS2 or mini-redundant power supplies. It is not for users who need a smaller form factor, integrated hot-swap controllers, or tool-less card retention without extra hardware.
