Single-bay M.2 enclosure for NVMe and SATA SSDs

This Orico enclosure accepts one M.2 SSD in the 2280 form factor and supports both NVMe and SATA protocols. It lets you reuse an internal drive as portable external storage. The aluminium shell acts as a heatsink with CNC-cut fins to spread heat across the surface.

USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps interface caps real-world

The USB-C connection runs at up to 10 Gbps, so an NVMe drive can approach 1000 MB/s in ideal conditions. A SATA SSD is limited by its own 6 Gbps link, so speeds will be lower regardless of the USB bandwidth. The enclosure cannot overcome the protocol ceiling of the drive installed inside it.

Aluminium body with integrated cooling vest

The all-aluminium chassis wraps the SSD on all sides and uses machined stripes to increase dissipation area. A supplied 2-in-1 cable terminates in both USB-C and USB-A plugs, each rated for 10 Gbps, so the enclosure connects to modern and legacy ports without an extra adapter.
