The Patriot P300 is a 256 GB internal SSD in the M.2 2280 form factor. It uses a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface with NVMe 1.3 for desktops and laptops. The drive has no DRAM cache and relies on HMB technology. End-to-end data path protection guards data integrity.

Sustained workload behaviour

Sequential reads reach up to 1700 MBps and writes up to 1100 MBps. Random performance hits 290,000 IOPS read and 260,000 IOPS write. Active power draw is 2.07 W and idle drops to 0.37 W. The controller operates from 0 °C to 70 °C with thermal management and wear levelling to prevent sharp speed drops over time. Rated endurance is 80 TB written.

Upgrade path from PCIe 3 x2 or SATA

This drive replaces slower PCIe 3 x2 NVMe SSDs or SATA SSDs with a 25 percent gain in transfer speeds and IOPS. The jump is worthwhile when boot times, application launches and file copies feel sluggish on the older interface. Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 are supported, though Windows 7 may need a driver.
