Optimus 5100 1TB M.2 2280 SSD

The SanDisk Optimus 5100 is a 1TB internal solid state drive built in the M.2 2280 form factor. It uses QLC 3D CBA NAND and connects through a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface with the NVMe protocol. The drive targets desktop and laptop upgrades that need high throughput without a heatsink.

PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface limits

The PCI-Express 4.0 x4 link caps theoretical bandwidth at roughly 8 GB/s per direction. Sequential reads reach up to 7100 MBps and writes up to 6700 MBps within that ceiling. Random performance scales to 1,000,000 read IOPS and 1,300,000 write IOPS. The controller draws 4.1 W active and 4 mW idle.

1TB capacity and 600 TBW endurance

At 1TB the drive stores operating systems, applications and large media libraries with room for growth. The 600 TBW rating covers heavy daily writes for years of typical workloads.
