Enterprise Capacity and Form Factor

The Solidigm D7-P5620 is a 6.4TB enterprise SSD built in the U.2 15mm form factor. It uses 144L TLC 3D NAND and a PCI-Express 4.0 interface. The drive targets data-centre servers that need high-capacity internal storage with a 2,000,000-hour MTBF rating.

Upgrading from Lower-Capacity Enterprise Drives

This model replaces smaller U.2 enterprise SSDs when workloads demand more space without adding drive bays. The jump is worth it for applications that can use 6.4TB of TLC endurance and require the shock resistance of 1,000 G at 0.5 msec. It is not for systems limited to 2.5-inch 7mm bays or PCIe 3.0-only backplanes.

Installation in Hot-Swap Bays

The U.2 15mm design fits standard 2.5-inch hot-swap bays that accept 15mm drives. Installation requires a compatible backplane with PCIe 4.0 x4 wiring and adequate airflow for the 2.17 GRMS operating vibration spec. Problems usually arise when the chassis only supports 7mm drives or lacks the SMBus path for health reporting.
