The Synology RS2423+ is a 12-bay rackmount network-attached storage server designed for small and medium businesses. It arrives fully assembled with twelve 6TB Synology Plus Series drives providing 72TB of raw capacity. The system includes 32GB of installed Synology RAM and an M2D20 adapter populated with two 800GB cache drives totalling 1.6TB. An AMD Ryzen processor drives the platform.

Sustained throughput and IOPS

Under continuous workloads the unit delivers up to 3500 MB/s sequential read and 1700 MB/s sequential write throughput. Random access performance reaches over 155K read IOPS and 79K write IOPS. Dual 1GbE ports support link aggregation and failover while a single 10GbE port handles high-bandwidth traffic. The operating temperature range spans 0°C to 35°C.

Rack installation and drive population

The 2U chassis measures 88 mm x 482 mm x 552 mm and weighs 11.5 kg without drives, requiring standard rack rails or shelves not included in the accessory pack. All twelve drive bays and both M.2 slots are already populated, leaving no internal expansion room for additional storage. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports provide only external attachment options.
