This 64 GB kit supplies four 16 GB DDR5 registered DIMMs built for Dell PowerEdge T560, R660, R660xs, R6615, R6625, R760, R760xa, R760xd2, R760xs, R7615, R7625, R860 and R960 servers. Each module runs at 4800 MT/s with CL40 latency at 1.1 V. The EC8 registered design adds error correction and signal buffering required by these platforms. It is not compatible with desktop or laptop systems that only accept non-ECC unbuffered memory.
Registered buffering reduces electrical load on the memory controller, helping the kit maintain rated 4800 MT/s throughput during extended workloads. Single-rank 1Rx8 organisation allows each channel to operate without the rank-switching overhead of dual-rank modules. ECC circuitry corrects single-bit errors on the fly, preventing data corruption during long compute runs. Mixing modules of different speeds forces the system to run at the slowest installed module.
The 288-pin DIMMs insert vertically into keyed DDR5 slots; the registration notch prevents misalignment with non-ECC sockets. Follow the server manual for correct channel population order and maximum modules per channel. No heat spreaders are fitted, so airflow across the modules must be maintained by the chassis fans. Systems that only support non-ECC unbuffered memory will not accept these modules.
