Dell PowerEdge 13th Gen Server Memory

This 256GB kit contains four 64GB DDR4 LRDIMM modules built for Dell PowerEdge 13th generation rack servers. It targets administrators upgrading R430, R530, R630, R730, R730xd, R830 or R930 platforms that require ECC load-reduced memory. The modules are not compatible with desktop or laptop systems that only accept non-ECC unbuffered DIMMs.

Capacity and Headroom

Four quad-rank 64GB modules deliver 256GB total capacity at DDR4 2400 speed with CL17 latency. The load-reduced design reduces electrical load on the memory controller, allowing dense population across all channels. Mixing with registered ECC DIMMs is not supported, and the system will clock down to the slowest installed module speed.

Thermals and Power

Each module operates at 1.20V without a heat spreader, relying on server chassis airflow for cooling. Load-reduced architecture lowers per-pin current draw compared to standard registered DIMMs at equivalent density. Power consumption scales with active ranks and data rate; sustained heavy workloads increase thermal output proportionally.

No — ECC Load Reduced and ECC Registered modules cannot be mixed. All installed modules must share the same ECC type, so the R730 must use only LRDIMMs or only RDIMMs.
