Dual Xeon Gold 6154 Blade Server

The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server built for dense compute clusters. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6154 processors deliver 36 cores at 3.0 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. It targets virtualization hosts, private-cloud nodes and high-performance computing jobs that need many threads in a small chassis slot.

32 GB DDR4 with 2 TB headroom

Four 8 GB DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC modules occupy four of sixteen slots, leaving room to grow to the platform maximum of 2 TB. Two factory-installed 1.92 TB SATA SSDs provide fast boot and scratch space on the integrated PERC S140 controller with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. Storage-heavy workloads will need additional drives or shared storage.

10 Gb dual-port blade networking

The Broadcom 57810S-K daughter card supplies two 10 Gb Ethernet ports through the chassis backplane, making this blade ready for east-west traffic in a PowerEdge MX or M1000e enclosure. Buyers without a compatible chassis or without 10 Gb fabric should plan that infrastructure first. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full out-of-band management once the blade is seated.
