Compact 1U rack server for light workloads

The Dell PowerEdge R430 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2603 v3 six-core processor running at 1.6 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. It ships with three 600 GB 15K SAS drives on a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis provides up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays and two PCIe 3.0 slots for expansion. Buyers needing more than one CPU or larger memory capacity from the start should look elsewhere.

Redundant 550 W supply with standard cooling

A single 550 W redundant hot-swap power supply delivers power to the system while the 1U form factor relies on internal fans for thermal management. Four 1 GbE ports handle network traffic and the Matrox G200eR2 video controller provides basic display output. The DVD-ROM drive remains available for media installation. Environments requiring higher-wattage redundancy or liquid cooling will not be served by this configuration.

iDRAC8 remote management and rail options

The integrated iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller offers out-of-band management at Express level, with Enterprise features and vFlash media available as upgrades. A power cable is included while rail kit, bezel, empty drive trays, keyboard, mouse and video cable are not supplied. Administrators who need complete mounting hardware or console peripherals in the box must source them separately.
