The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server configured with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 V3 ten-core processor at 2.3GHz and 8GB of DDR4 memory. It includes three 4TB 7.2K SAS drives managed by a Perc H730 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 750W redundant power supplies and a DVD-ROM complete the package.

Fits dense storage workloads, not maximum compute

This system suits buyers who need up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives in a compact 2U chassis with hardware RAID and redundant power. It does not suit buyers who require two processors, more than 12 DIMM slots, or PCIe 4.0 expansion. The installed memory is fixed at 8GB and the single CPU occupies one of two sockets.

Single-socket ten-core CPU caps virtual core count

The installed Xeon E5-2650 V3 delivers ten physical cores and 20 virtual cores with hyper-threading, defining the maximum thread capacity for this configuration. A second processor can be added to double that figure, but the current build operates with one CPU only.

How much usable storage will the three 4TB drives give me with the H730 controller?
