Purpose & audience

This enclosure converts a SATA-bus M.2 NGFF SSD into a standard 2.5 inch SATA III drive for laptops or desktops. It is built for users who have a Key B or Key B+M module and want to use it in a system with a 2.5 inch SATA bay.

Build integration

The metal housing accepts M.2 modules in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths and secures them inside a 7 mm thick 2.5 inch frame. It requires a SATA data and power connection from the host and frees the builder from needing a dedicated M.2 slot on the motherboard.

Thermals, noise & power

The passive metal enclosure dissipates heat from the installed SSD without any moving parts, so it adds no audible noise. Power draw is limited to the drive itself through the SATA interface, with no additional circuitry to increase consumption.
