MCIO 4X to U.2 NVMe Adapter

This adapter cable converts an MCIO 4X port on a motherboard or controller card into a U.2 SFF-8639 connection for NVMe SSDs. It is built for enterprise servers, NAS systems and data centre storage expansion where high-capacity U.2 drives are preferred. The integrated 15Pin SATA power lead supplies the drive directly without extra adapters. Gold-plated contacts and a braided jacket protect signal integrity in demanding environments.

PCIe 5.0 Bandwidth Upgrade

The cable carries PCIe 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 x4 signalling up to 32GT/s, so a Gen 5 SSD runs at full speed when the host port supports it. Upgrading from a Gen 3 or Gen 4 link is worthwhile only when the platform and drive both support the higher generation. If the host side is limited to Gen 3, the cable will still work but the drive will operate at Gen 3 speeds. No performance gain appears unless every link in the chain matches the target generation.

Host Port and Power Check

Verify that the host system provides an MCIO 4X (38Pin SFF-TA-1016) connector wired for PCIe x4 and that the power supply has a free SATA power connector for the 15Pin lead. The U.2 SSD must be a 2.5-inch NVMe model with an SFF-8639 interface; SATA-only U.2 drives are not supported. Confirm physical clearance for the cable routing and drive mounting before ordering.
