Desktop PoE+ switch for edge devices

The TRENDnet TPE-TG50g is a compact five-port Gigabit switch that supplies both data and power over twisted-pair cable. Four ports deliver PoE+ for wireless access points or IP cameras while the fifth port handles a standard network uplink. A metal desktop chassis keeps the unit quiet and cool in office or wiring-closet settings.

31 W total PoE budget

The switch shares a 31 W power budget across its four PoE+ ports, compliant with IEEE 802.3af at 15.4 W per port and IEEE 802.3at at 30 W per port. Connecting devices that together exceed 31 W will leave some ports unpowered, so installers must sum the draw of every attached access point or camera before deployment.

Sustained load within thermal limits

Operating between 0 °C and 40 °C, the switch draws up to 36 W from its 110-240 V AC supply while forwarding at 10 Gbps switching capacity. The 96 Kbyte buffer absorbs burst traffic, and 9K jumbo frames reduce per-packet overhead during continuous streams from multiple cameras. Fanless metal housing dissipates heat without audible noise.
