Compact rack server for compute density

The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2650v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3GHz. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a PERC H730 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis fits up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives and includes a DVD-ROM drive. Remote management is handled by iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller.

Verify power, rails and drive trays before ordering

This unit includes one 550W redundant hot-swap power supply and a power cable. Rail kit, bezel and drive trays are not included, so confirm your rack mounting hardware and acquire trays for the eight 2.5-inch bays. The system supports a second processor and up to 384GB total memory across 12 DIMM slots, though installed memory is currently 8GB. Two PCIe 3.0 slots are available for expansion cards.

iDRAC8 and H730 controller shape daily operations

The integrated iDRAC8 Express enables out-of-band management, firmware updates and remote console access without an operating system. Upgrading to iDRAC8 Enterprise adds virtual media and advanced scripting capabilities. The PERC H730 controller provides 1GB cache and 12Gbps SAS throughput, allowing mixed RAID levels across the drive bays. Matrox G200 graphics deliver basic video output for local console access.
