2U rack server with 24 drive bays

The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits in a standard 2U rack space and provides up to 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch drive bays for SAS or SATA drives. A single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor at 1.9 GHz handles compute tasks while 64 GB of DDR4 memory occupies part of the 24 available DIMM slots. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails.

H730 RAID controller and three 1 TB drives

The included PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the installed 1 TB 7.2 K SATA drives. The controller uses a dedicated slot so all six PCIe 3.0 expansion slots remain free for additional cards. A DVD-ROM drive is also fitted for media tasks.

Tool-less drive trays and iDRAC8 remote management

Hot-plug trays allow drive swaps without tools or server shutdown. The iDRAC8 Express with Lifecycle Controller gives out-of-band access for firmware updates and hardware monitoring over the network. Buyers who need a second processor or more than 64 GB of memory must add those components separately. The system ships without an operating system.
