The Dell Precision T7910 tower is built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2640 v4 processor with ten cores running at 2.4 GHz and hyper-threading for twenty virtual cores. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 500 GB SATA solid-state drive provide a responsive base for compute-heavy workflows. An Nvidia NVS 310 graphics card with 512 MB memory drives two DisplayPort monitors. No operating system is included.

Thermals and Power in Daily Use

A 1300-watt power supply rated at 90 percent efficiency with active power factor correction delivers stable power to the CPU, memory and storage subsystem. The tower chassis measures 21.5 by 8.5 by 17.2 inches and weighs fifty pounds, giving ample internal airflow for sustained workloads. Integrated Intel I217 and I210 gigabit controllers handle wired networking without adding significant heat. A DVD-RW drive is fitted as standard.

Single-CPU Configuration Limits Expansion

This unit ships with one processor installed in the LGA 2011-3 socket on the Intel C612 chipset, leaving the second CPU socket vacant. The board offers sixteen DIMM slots in total, but only eight are usable with a single CPU, capping memory at 1 TB instead of the dual-CPU maximum. Four M.2 PCIe slots and multiple 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drive bays are present, yet RAID 5 requires an optional PCIe controller not included. Builders needing more cores, more memory channels or hardware RAID 5 should look elsewhere.
