This OWC kit adds 32GB of DDR4 2666 ECC UDIMM memory to the Synology RackStation RS2818RP+. Two 16GB modules bring the NAS to a higher capacity for virtualization, heavy file sharing or surveillance workloads. The unbuffered ECC design matches the system's native memory architecture. Builders needing registered DIMMs or a different form factor cannot use this kit.

Sustained throughput with ECC integrity

At DDR4 2666 CL19 the modules deliver steady bandwidth during long backup windows or multi-user database access. ECC corrects single-bit errors on the fly, preventing silent data corruption that can accumulate under continuous load. The 1.2V operating voltage keeps power draw modest inside a rack chassis. Systems requiring faster speeds or lower latency than PC4-21300 will not benefit from this grade.

Tool-free DIMM installation

The 288-pin UDIMMs slot directly into the RS2818RP+ memory sockets without adapters or cables. OWC validates each stick at 2666, 2400 and 2133MHz, so the kit posts at the highest speed the platform supports. Installers must populate the correct channel pair; mixing with existing non-ECC or different-rank modules will prevent boot. No heat spreader is fitted, so airflow over the PCB is essential.
