ECC registered DDR4 kit adds 32 GB across two 16 GB modules at 2400 MT/s CL17 for Cisco UCS B260 M4 and B460 M4 servers

This 32 GB kit contains two 16 GB DDR4 2400 CL17 ECC registered RDIMMs built for Cisco UCS B260 M4 E7 v4 and B460 M4 E7 v4 servers. The modules run at 1.2 V and use a 1Rx4 organisation to provide error correction and signal buffering for multi-socket workloads. They replace Cisco part numbers UCSMR1X161RVA and UCSMR1X161RVG. Desktop or consumer platforms cannot use registered ECC memory.
Operating at the standard 1.2 V DDR4 voltage keeps power draw low for dense server configurations. No heat spreader is fitted, so airflow through the chassis manages module temperatures directly. The registered design reduces electrical load on the memory controller, helping maintain stable operation under sustained throughput.
Adding 32 GB of registered ECC capacity extends the usable life of the supported Cisco UCS platforms or reduces cost when populating new build slots. JEDEC and RoHS compliance ensures the modules meet industry specifications for server deployment. The kit is not compatible with unbuffered or load-reduced ECC memory types.

Power down the server, open the chassis, align the notch on each 288-pin DDR4 module with the slot key, press firmly until both latches click, then verify in BIOS that all 32 GB are recognised at 2400 MHz; the step often missed is seating both latches fully so the registered buffer makes proper contact.
The modules have no heat spreaders and no moving parts, so routine maintenance is limited to keeping server air filters clean; replacement is only required if a DIMM fails ECC correction or the server is upgraded beyond DDR4 2400.
The CAS latency of CL17 at DDR4 2400 sets the timing ceiling, so memory bandwidth and latency plateau there before thermal or voltage limits become a factor.
