The Solidigm D5-P5336 is a 122.88TB U.2 solid-state drive built for data-centre workloads that prioritise capacity over write endurance. It uses 192-layer QLC 3D NAND and a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface to deliver sequential reads up to 7000 MBps and writes up to 3000 MBps. Random read performance reaches 900,000 IOPS while random writes hit 18,000 IOPS. The drive is rated for 0.60 DWPD and 134.3 PBW total bytes written.

PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth ceiling

The four-lane PCIe 4.0 link caps theoretical throughput at roughly 8 GBps, so the drive’s 7 GBps read ceiling leaves little headroom for protocol overhead. Write-heavy workloads will see the 3 GBps sequential limit and 18,000 IOPS random write ceiling long before the interface saturates. Active power draw reaches 30W under load, so the backplane and cooling must handle that sustained thermal output.

U.2 bay and power budget check
