Capacity and form factor

The Solidigm D5-P5336 is a 61.44 TB enterprise solid-state drive built in the E1.L 9.5 mm form factor. It uses 192-layer QLC 3D NAND and connects through a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface. The drive targets data-centre operators who need very high density in a slim, hot-pluggable package.

Upgrade path

It replaces lower-capacity E1.L or U.2 SSDs when rack space is at a premium and a single module must hold tens of terabytes. The jump is worth it when workloads are read-intensive and can tolerate QLC write endurance, allowing consolidation of multiple smaller drives into one slot. Buyers who need higher write endurance or lower latency should consider alternative media.

Build integration

The module fits standard E1.L 9.5 mm bays and operates from 0 °C to 70 °C with a 2 000 000 hour MTBF rating. It withstands 1 000 G shock at 0.5 ms and up to 2.17 GRMS vibration while running, 3.13 GRMS when powered off. No Opal encryption is included, so encryption must be handled by the host controller or software layer.
