Capacity and form factor

The Solidigm D5-P5336 is a 61.44TB enterprise SSD built in the E1.L 9.5mm form factor. It uses 192-layer QLC 3D NAND and connects through a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface. The drive targets data-centre operators who need very high capacity in a dense, hot-pluggable package.

Upgrade path

It replaces lower-capacity E1.L or U.2 drives when rack space is at a premium and sequential throughput matters more than write endurance. The jump is worth it when workloads can tolerate 0.58 DWPD and benefit from up to 7000 MBps reads and 3000 MBps writes. Buyers who need sustained random-write performance or higher write endurance should look elsewhere.

Build integration

The drive fits standard E1.L bays and draws 5W idle and 23W active, simplifying thermal planning. FIPS support meets encryption compliance without extra hardware. It frees up physical slots by consolidating terabytes into a single 185g module. Operators must verify that their backplane and firmware stack support the E1.L 9.5mm height and PCIe 4.0 signalling.
